This is a free course. I
Stop laughing.
I said stop it.
Seriously. It's entirely free.
And it's awesome.
The Our Pixilated Eyeballs Course is the prduct of an international collaboration among a group of global scholars interested in the evolving topic of digital visual culture. In this free online course, world-renowned academics from the UK to Australia provide insightful 20-30 minute lectures on topics of their current research. You can learn about topics are wide ranging as the meaning of Kim Kardashian's butt to the online activist group anonymous, as well as 'sexting' to Instagram hashtags.
Accompanying these lectures are classic theoretical readings, discussion questions, and case studies on which you can apply your learning. You are your own teacher for this course. Go at your own speed. Take your time and stew in the ideas. If, however, you ever get stuck and would like to talk to another teacher about any of the concepts presents here I'm always here to listen (PS, I'm not a talking head. I'm a real person and my name is Katie Warfield. I teach communication and cultural theory are Kwantlen Polytechnic University on the west coast of Canada.)
We hope you enjoy the lectures and classes here. This is the first of many free online courses produced by the Visual Media Workshop @ KPU. Stay tuned for more...
